Good news for Malaysian as India e-Visa price reduced and duration changed

From family vacations to pilgrimage tours, Malaysians have long been loyal visitors to India.

Previously, the Indian government decided to scrap the over-the-counter tourist visa (USD 40 for 6 months) for Malaysians and introduced the more expensive one and five-year visas, costing USD 100 (RM 407) and USD 200 (RM 814) respectively.

Then the government introduced multiple entry e-Visa which was priced at USD 82 (RM 362) for a duration of one year. This sudden hike in visa fees left many Malaysians deeply unhappy.

Luckily, the Indian government has introduced new changes in e-Visa terms, where applicants can opt to choose between 30 days, 1-year or 5-year e-Visa for a much cheaper price.

Check out the latest e-Visa price here:

30 days (April to June): USD10 (RM43)

30 days (July to March): USD25 (RM106)

1 year: USD40 (RM169)

5 years: USD80 (RM337)

*The abovementioned fee (RM) is based on the USD-MYR currency exchange rate on 4th Septermber 2019

According to its official website, the Indian e-Visa ‘involves a completely online application for which no facilitation is required by any intermediary/agents’. A bank charge of 2.5% will be imposed on the e-Visa fee during the application.

However, there are no changes in the over-the-counter Visa fees.

  • This is just news, need to await for them to implement
They said the same thing in 2018, Visa fee will be reduced but when people went to apply for Visa, it was still the same rate with no reduction
